Wall Spots and Wallpaper - Why repositionable wallpaper is the future of cool

I'm happy to say, I'm addicted to my new wall spots (and wallpaper). Here are a few reasons why:

Firstly, they are easy to install.

They arrive on a slick backing paper and it is so easy to lift an edge, peel off the sticker and place on the wall. The smoothing is easy too with just a gentle wipe from the centre outwards to make sure there are no air bubbles.

My repositionable wallpaper is similarly easy to apply. All you do is peel the top edge and place the sheet where you want to hang it (starting on the left if you are right handed) and then gently pull the backing paper away and downwards while you slide and smooth the air bubbles out. Each strip also has a faint line on the right hand edge which shows you where to overlap the design so that the repeat can be seamless. And then, if you make a mistake, you can just peel it off and reposition it without damaging the walls. Magic!

EASY PEASY

Another reason why art on sticky wall spots is genius is because there is no extra cost involved. Sometimes when you buy an unframed art print the framing costs can be a bit of a surprise (if you want my prints framed I can price it up for you - just ask by the way) so I love that my wall spots don't need any framing or hanging solutions. They are just ready to stick, or ready to cut and stick if it's a wallpaper length and there is no waiting for the framing to be ready and bla bla bla, they offer instant gratification and really transform spaces with so little effort. This, little effort thing, I like a lot.

FICKLE STICKERS

Adhesive and art are also great companions because most people like to change their minds a lot as their needs or the needs of their growing families change. Is there anything more annoying than hanging a new art piece (for a child for example) and then realising that you should have actually hung it on the other wall or higher or lower or more to the left or right? So annoying! I love my wall spots and sticky wallpaper because they feed my fickle nature and I can stick and restick and restick to my heart's content. I even got tangled in one of the large strips of my headboard (FYI peel as you go for the wallpaper strips.. we live and learn!) and it untangled nicely and set me free again even though it was stuck to me. The repositionable adhesive is forgiving of silly blunders and tangles AND you can change your mind where you want to hang it whenever you like.

RENTING

Some landlords (and partners and spouses) can get annoyed when 'another hole' is made in the wall to hang some thing or other. My adhesive wall decals and wallpaper don't need to damage existing walls and they can even be smoothed over ugly holes that might already be in the wall. Perfection!

HEADBOARDS

I recently priced up a DIY plush wooden headboard in my own fabric and realised that this has to be a future project. Right now I don't want to invest a lot of time and money into such a big project and, due to impatience for the cool effect and also due to toddler-needs, using wallpaper as a headboard solution is GOLD! It took me around 15 minutes to 'hang my wallpaper' as a headboard and it has absolutely transformed my master bedroom into a boheme dream space that my kids love too.

PROTECTION

Potentially the greatest thing about a durable vinyl adhesive is that it not only doesn't damage the walls but it also protects them. I currently have plans to rotate some of my favourite kids' textile designs to transform my kids' beds by making 'bed wraps' around the walls. This should hopefully protect the walls from all of that kicking and scratching (and drawing?) that goes on whilst also offering a pretty gosh-darned cool decor solution.

WET AND DRY

I would be lying if I didn't have to clean my wall spots already. We currently live rurally and an unfortunate reality of living on a farm is that flies are a constant companion in Summer. My wall spots suffered from fly spots and I just wiped them gently away with a soft damp cloth. This is exciting for me because I also know that I could start designing some fun effects with vinyl wallpaper in my bathroom next... watch this space!

Finally, because my love for sticky wallpaper and wall decals is clear, all of my designs can be miniaturised as well for you dolls house renovation project. So if you were feeling really crazy, you could do up a room in miniature at the same time for your dolls and kids to enjoy in a different scale.

And that is why repositionable wallpaper is the future of cool.
